The Concept

Messages from the dead begin arriving on ordinary phones. Not garbled. Not encoded. Ordinary iMessage notifications from contacts who died years ago - spelling correct, tone recognizable, timestamps live. A corporate crisis consultant begins receiving them first. Within a week, she has traced four other recipients across three continents and assembled them to answer a single question: who is sending these, and why now.

What they find is a system that has never once considered them a threat, and answers them anyway, on time, correctly. There is no villain. No one to arrest. The harm arrives through correct procedure.

The Format

Six episodes of approximately 50 minutes each, told entirely through screens - phones, laptops, video calls, security feeds, encrypted chat, forensic screen recordings. The screenlife format, pioneered commercially by Timur Bekmambetov's Bazelevs with Unfriended and Searching, has proven a genuine tonal register rather than a novelty. Recent evolutions - the 2025 screenlife War of the Worlds, the accelerating stream of format-native series across major platforms - have widened the aperture from feature-length thriller into serialized drama.

HOPE THIS FINDS YOU WELL is built for this shift. Screenlife carries the intimacy the story requires: the horror of a system that reaches you through the same interfaces you use to text your mother is a horror screenlife renders literally. Every viewer already spends four to six hours a day inside the frame the show inhabits.

The Production Model

The screenlife format is uniquely portable. Principal photography can be distributed across the working locations of the cast - six characters, six cities, filmed where each character actually lives - rather than concentrated into a single production hub. The show is global by construction, and beyond all appear on screen because that is where the story places its people, and that is where the format lets us shoot without moving a single unit. This is not a limitation working around itself. It is the point. The show is about people separated by geography but joined by their networks. The production reflects it.

The result: a series produced at feature-adjacent budgets with genuine international scope, capable of touching four to six countries within season one without a single company move.

Current Stage

Sable holds the concept, the treatment, an assembled cast, and the production model. What we do not yet hold is a European co-producer of record. The CIS strand anchors season one and the whole of season two, and the show's viability as a European submission depends on a co-production partner whose credentials and track record match the ambition of the piece.

The submission to the Berlinale Co-Production Market Co-Pro Series 2027 strand is the current mile-marker. The market is where European co-producers meet international projects seeking partners of record. It is exactly the correct forum for what we are looking for, at exactly the correct stage of the project's development.

Why Now, Why This

The infrastructure for CIS-US collaboration on serialized drama is more mature than at any prior point. The Bekmambetov precedent alone has answered the question of whether the region can support the model. What remains is the specific work of matching individual projects to individual partners with the credentials and appetite to see them through.

Sable's positioning - a US-based production entity with a credential-verified network of partners across the Caucasus and Central Asia - was built to close exactly this gap. HOPE THIS FINDS YOU WELL is the first project to test that positioning at the scale it was designed for.
